Our Center for Digital Safety & Security located in Vienna invites applications for an internship. Our Competence Unit for Cooperative Digital Technologies is leading in applied research on the development of data-based IT solutions for various application scenarios, including the design of new and innovative solutions supporting communities in increasing their resilience and achieving their sustainable development goals (SDG). As a reliable partner of industry and public authorities, we work on digital tools for a sustainable and resilient society based on current research results and in collaboration with end users and our customers. The focus of our applications is on climate change impact assessment and the protection of society during crises and disasters.

 

Specifically, our Responsive Sensing and Analyticsteam is developing efficient and scalable algorithms to provide emergency services with the necessary safety-relevant information and analysis results based on sensor and IoT systems on unmanned robots or aircraft (drones) in the event of the release of biological, chemical or radiological hazardous substances (CBRN), for example in the event of disasters.

Internship “Geospatial Visualisation & Data Fusion Development”

CENTER FOR DIGITAL SAFETY & SECURITY

  • Under the guidance of our interdisciplinary team, you will develop a visualisation tool for the in-house Multimodal Fusion Architecture for Sensor Applications (MuFASA) for the purpose of geospatial data analytics.
  • You will gain practical experience with one of the leading research companies in Austria.
  • You support us in our international project and get exciting insights into our technological environment.
  • You will have not only the opportunity to discuss your work experiences and results with experienced scientific peers, but also to connect with other bachelor’s, master’s or PhD students.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

  • Ongoing Master’s studies in the field of computer science, mathematics, physics or similar at an Austrian University
  • Programming knowledge in Python (JavaScript is a plus) with focus on scientific dashboards and visualization tools.
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and libraries.
  • Ability to work in a team, flexibility and commitment
  • Good verbal and written English skills, German skills would be a plus

 

What to expect:

  • Duration of the internship: minimum 3 months
  • Start date: summer 2025 – However there is some flexibility concerning the start-date
  • A remuneration of EUR 1.415,-- gross per month for 38.5 hours per week. In addition to our company benefits, we offer flexible working conditions and work experience in a highly innovative environment.
